Acquiring is a method of accepting cashless payments using bank cards and mobile devices. The customer can pay with a debit or credit card, as well as through apps such as Mir Pay on a smartphone, smartwatch, or other wearable gadgets.
After payment, the funds are first received by the acquiring bank and then transferred to the seller's current account. For this, a payment terminal or an online system is used, depending on the type of acquiring.
There are two main types:
Merchant acquiring — accepting payments through terminals in a store, office, or upon delivery.
Internet acquiring — accepting payments on the company's website or in the mobile app.
The fee amount depends on a number of factors. These include: the company's total turnover, the number of connected outlets, and the business area in which the company operates (Merchant Category Code (MCC)).
The fee includes:
interbank fee (IRF);
payment system usage fee;
processing services;
equipment maintenance;
related expenses.
The largest share is the interbank fee (IRF) — it is paid by the acquiring bank to the bank that issued the card. Its amount depends on:
card category — gold and platinum cards have a higher fee than standard cards;
type of business activity — different IRF rates apply to different industries;
payment method — magnetic stripe transactions cost more than contactless payments.
First, fill out a short online application. It will take just a couple of minutes. After the application is reviewed, a bank representative will contact you. They will clarify the details and help you choose the optimal acquiring terms for your business. After that, you will need to sign an agreement with the bank and choose a convenient time to meet the specialists for terminal installation. As a rule, connecting the equipment takes 3–5 business days.
What should I do if there are problems with merchant acquiring in a store?
If you experience problems with acquiring, contact Uralsib technical support or your account manager. Specialists will promptly help configure the equipment, restore terminal operation, or resolve other technical issues. Support service contact details are provided in the agreement and on the bank's website.
