Merchant acquiring and internet acquiring are services for accepting cashless payments from customers. However, they operate differently.

• Merchant acquiring is used at points of sale. The customer pays for the purchase by card or smartphone via a terminal. The funds are first transferred to the acquiring bank and then to the company's current account.
• Internet acquiring is connected for servicing online stores and services. Payment is made entirely on the website. The customer enters card details or pays for the purchase via a payment system. All settlements are made without the use of a terminal.
