What does the merchant acquiring fee depend on?

The fee amount is determined based on the company's turnover, the number of retail outlets, and the business sector.

The fee includes:

  • interbank fee (IRF);
  • payment system fees;
  • processing services;
  • equipment maintenance;
  • other expenses.

The largest share of the fee is IRF. This is the amount that the acquiring bank transfers to the bank that issued the card. Its amount depends on several factors:

  • card category: the higher the status, the higher the fee;
  • business sector (MCC): different rates apply to different industries;
  • payment method: magnetic stripe transactions are more expensive than contactless or chip payments.
