What is acquiring?

Acquiring is a service that allows companies to accept payments using bank cards and contactless payment devices. Settlements are processed through POS terminals at the point of sale and online. The funds are first received by the acquiring bank and then credited to the company's current account.

There are several types of acquiring:

• Merchant acquiring — for payments through terminals;
• Internet acquiring — for payments through payment systems on websites.
  
• Mobile — for accepting payments through portable terminals.
